Our History

Morrill Industries Inc., traces its roots to 1953, when Leelan “Mike” Morrill opened Mike’s Welding in California’s Central San Joaquin Valley. What began as a one- man shop repairing and welding farm equipment quickly earned a reputation for craftsmanship, reliability, and service – values that would shape the Morrill family’s future.

As demand grew, Leelan invited immediate family members into the business, building a team grounded in the same commitment to quality. In the early 1970s, the company expanded into irrigation equipment design and manufacturing. By 1978, irrigation accounted for 80% of revenue, and by 1980 it represented 100%, marking a decisive shift from repairs to engineered products.

By 1984, Mike’s Welding was widely recognized as a quality manufacturer of irrigation equipment. Confident in the company’s potential and the capabilities of the next generation, Leelan prepared for succession. In 1985, four members of his immediate family formed a general partnership and incorporated as Morrill Industries Inc., continuing to operate Mike’s Welding as an active DBA. The founding principles- hard work, integrity, and service- remain in the company’s cornerstone.
